What is residential aged care? Residential aged care is for older people who can no longer live at home. Martin Luther Homes Boronia also offers Independent Living Units.
What types of aged care are available? · The hostel provides accommodation and personal care together with occasional nursing care. · The Nursing home provides care for people who often need continuous support and personal care.
Do I have to pay for residential aged care? The Australian government assists with the costs associated with providing care, most residents also pay a number of fees and charges. These include: · daily care fees which contribute towards your daily living costs, such as nursing and personal care, meals, linen and laundry, as well as heating and cooling. · accommodation payments which contribute towards the cost of your accommodation. The amount you can be asked to pay depends on your income and assets.
What if I can’t afford to pay? The Australian Government will help residents who may experience difficulty in paying for their care.
Will I need to move into another aged care home if my care needs change? Martin Luther Homes Boronia offers Independent Living Units, low level and high level care, which allows you to stay in one location even if your care needs increase - known as ageing in place.
What is an ACAT? Aged Care Assessment Teams (ACAT) are teams of health professionals, such as doctors, nurses or social workers, who provide the assessment of your care needs.
How do I find an ACAT? You can contact an ACAT directly, or your doctor or local hospital can provide a referral to the ACAT nearest to you. A list of ACATS is also available on the Department of Health and Ageing internet site at www.health.gov.au
