Registration

Persons who wish to be considered for entry to the waiting list must register their interest on the required form and forward it to Martin Luther Homes. A fully refundable fee applies to waiting list applications.

Waiting List

A set number of applicants only are permitted to be on the waiting list for each facility. When the waiting list is full, it is closed until such time as a vacancy occurs.

When a vacancy occurs, a registered applicant is invited to an interview with the Homes' Chief Executive Officer and Director of Nursing.

Applications for residential care units must be accompanied by a current Aged Care Assessment. This is a requirement for all government funded aged care facilities.

Fees and Charges

1. Independent Living Units

Capital Contributions are interest-free loans to Martin Luther Homes from which retentions of 3% per annum of the value of the capital contribution are deducted, at the end of every year of residence, for an indefinite period. Retention deductions for residence periods of less than 12 months in any calendar year will be calculated on a pro-rata basis.

Monthly Rental

(as at 1 Jan 2008)

The monthly rental for all units is currently AU $339.10. The rental amount is charged to cover the costs of council and water rates as well as general maintenance and building insurance of the units.

2. Residential Care

(as at 20 March 2008)

Capital Contribution

For low level care residents, the capital contribution (bond) is currently set at a minimum of AU $150,000.00. This amount is a loan to Martin Luther Homes from which we are entitled, under federal government legislation, to deduct a retention of AU $3,360.00 per annum for a maximum period of 5 years.

For high level care residents, the capital contribution, where applicable, is charged in the form of an accommodation fee of up to AU$26.88 per day.

Care Fees

Care fees are federal government controlled; currently the basic daily care fee is set at AU$32.05 per day. In addition, residents who have the capacity to do so, will be required to pay an income tested contribution. This may result in the payment of an additional fee up to AU$56.57 per day.
