The Chapel

Martin Luther Homes in Boronia were founded by the German Lutheran Trinity Church in East Melbourne. We attach great value to the fact that we are a Christian home.

Worship services, bible studies and other events are offered in English as well as German language:

  • German Lutheran Church Service in the Chapel every 1st Sunday of the month at 9 a.m. and every 3rd Sunday of the month at 3 p.m. The afternoon Service will be with Holy Communion every second month.
  • German Lutheran Church Service with Holy Communion takes places in the Activity Room/Hostel every 1st Thursday of the month at 2 p.m.
  • German Lutheran Fellowship takes place in the Activity Room/Hostel every 2nd, 4th & 5th Wednesday of the month at 1 p.m.
  • German Lutheran Fellowship with the C.E.O. takes place in the Activity Room/Hostel every 3rd Monday of the month at 3:30 p.m.
  • German Catholic Church Service with Holy Communion takes place in the Activity Room/Hostel every 3rd Wednesday of the month at 2 p.m.
  • German Bible Study takes place in the Activity Room/Hostel every 2nd Thursday of the month at 6 p.m.
  • English Lutheran Chruch Service with Holy Communion takes place in the Activity Room/Hostel every 3rd Thursday of the month at 2 p.m.
  • English Lutheran Bible Study takes place in the Activity Room/Hostel every 4th Wednesday of the month at 6 p.m.
  • English Catholic Chruch Service with Holy Communion takes place in the Activity Room/Hostel every 4th Friday of the month at 3:15 p.m.

Pastors Joachim v. Mitzlaff, Wilhelm Stern and Stephen Pietsch (the latter for English speaking residents) are the principal contacts for visits and events, for counselling and pastoral care.

They and the other members of the pastoral care team are always ready to listen to the concerns and worries of the residents and by way of consoling, advice and support to provide them as much as humanly possible, with a sense of security and wellbeing.

However, it is the view of Martin Luther Homes that pastoral care is not exclusively the domain of specialists; rather, it is a Christian communities attitude towards the sanctity of human life. Pastoral care thus becomes a sensitive walking alongside elderly people by pastors and lay helpers.
